People who have internet skills are in big demand. A recent study estimated the number of internet-related jobs increased 36 percent this year alone.
The Duke Office of Continuing Education is offering a 26-week program to certify participants as e-commerce professionals.
Students will learn everything from web site design, to internet development and security. The instructor expects people at different experience levels will take the classes, and he thinks they can help each other.
"You can get the technical people to help the non-technicals and the non-technicals to help the technicals see the other side of the world, the artistic, the easy-to-use side," says Laurel Ferejohn, the director of Continuing Education.
The program costs about $9500.

Duke officials say there are few if any programs like this in the country.
The university is also sponsoring a career expo in October to match students with employers looking for their newly acquired skills.
