Wintry Precipitation Reported In Triangle Area

RALEIGH — There have been sightings in the Triangle area of wintry precipitation.

There were reports in Orange and Durham counties of sleetand wet snow. There were also reports of heavy snow in Greensboro.

High pressure over central Canada and the northern plains is drivingcolder air into the southeastern United States over the next threedays.

The full brunt of colder air will be felt Tuesday night andearly Wednesday. Temperatures are likely to dip to freezing overcentral North Carolina with record or near record lows around 30degrees.

A freeze warning has been issued Tuesday night for areas west of the Triangle.
