Fort Bragg Customers Take High-Tech Approach To Banking

Posted Updated

FORT BRAGG — Payday does not have to be spent at the bank. Customers at one branch at Fort Bragg are saving time -- thanks to state of the art technology with a personal touch.

The Canopy Lane branch of the First Citizens Bank at Fort Bragg introduced remote teller stations earlier this summer. They offer the same types of services as traditional tellers. Customers can cash checks, make withdrawals, deposits and other transactions.

The only difference is it is all through a video monitor.

"We're on the cutting edge of technology," says bank vice president Rudy Baker. "At the same time, it provides a personal service."

Customers can save 30 minutes of their time at the remote teller stations because tellers can serve multiple windows at once.

"It allows us to minimize staffing and, at the same time, provide the necessary type of customer service people expect," Baker says.

The remote teller stations also offer weather updates and current news and sports scores.

The Canopy Lane Branch has been open for business since June 27. The remote teller stations are the first of their kind in the entire Southeast.
