FAYETTEVILLE — Fayetteville has a new mayor Monday after months of waiting for a new leader.
Milo McBryde was sworn in at the city council meeting. Council members voted him in to replaceJ.L. Dawkinswho died of cancer at the end of May.
"Tonight, I'm humbled to follow in the footsteps of Fayetteville's longest serving mayor, Mayor J.L. Dawkins," he says. "J.L.'s footprints on this city will not be matched. I will do everything humanly possible to be as J.L. was, a mayor for all the people of Fayetteville."
Business leader Bob Hurst was appointed to fill McBryde's at-large seat.
