RALEIGH — Two people were killed in a car accident in southern Wake County late Wednesday afternoon.
Two vehicles crashed just before 5 p.m. at the intersection of Ten-Ten and Lake Wheeler roads.
Investigators say a Geo Prizm ran a red light and was side-swiped by by a sport utility vehicle. The Toyota SUV flipped over and both vehicles plunged into a ditch at the intersection.
Both people in the Geo died at the scene. One of the victims has been identified as Antonio Covington, 29, of Raleigh.
The driver of the SUV, William Benson of Apex, was taken to the hospital. There is no word on his condition.
