NEWTON GROVE — A private police force is proving to be a bargain for the town of Newton Grove.

A town commission unanimously approved a contract with theNorth Carolina Special Policeagency through the end of June 2001.

The town says the private force will save them more than $3,000 a year.

Newton Grove's entire police force walked off the job May 1 because of a disagreement with the police commissioner. -->
