FAYETTEVILLE — Deputies and police put on their bulletproof vests before every shift. Their dogs face the same dangers as their handlers. Animal lover Grace Allen thought they should be protected, too.
"Well, I looked around and nobody was doing anything to protect the ones that would give their lives for us," she says.
Allen is leading the charge to raise money to buy special bulletproof vests for all 19 city and county police dogs.
