print friendly

The road you travel may not be the most dangerous, but that does not mean you will not see theNorth Carolina Highway Patrolputting the brakes on speeders.

In Harnett County, for example, troopers have received several complaints from people who live and work along Highway 401.

The complaints are about people driving well over the speed limit, improper passing and aggressive driving.

Troopers have been concentrating on the five most dangerous roads in Harnett County. Now, as staffing allows, troopers will heavily patrol Highway 401.

"Quite frankly, local citizens are getting fed up, if you will, with drivers not obeying the law and putting them in danger," says 1Sgt. Harold Thompson of the N.C. Highway Patrol.

The five most dangerous Harnett County roads include Highway 210 and Highway 27.

Accidents along those roads have gone down by 20 percent since the presence of troopers there have increased.
