Posted Updated

FAYETTEVILLE — TheDepartment of Transportationis not giving up on a much-needed Fayetteville road project.

Suggestions for an Owen Drive extension have been struck down three times by the Army Corps of Engineers because of nearby wetlands.

The DOT is now proposing three alternate routes.

The first two proposals would run from Owen Drive east of the Civic Center to East Mountain Drive; the third widens Wilkes Road.

The goal of the extension is to provide a faster route from Interstate 95 to the All American Freeway and Bragg Boulevard.
