Fish vs. Groundhog: The Battle For Prognosticating Supremacy

Posted Updated

RALEIGH — Who is better at predicting the weather? A meteorologist with over 20 years of experience or a mammal that spends most of its time in a hole.

Sir Walter Wally, Raleigh's portly weather prognosticator, emerged from his cage on Wednesday and saw his shadow. In groundhog terms, that means another six weeks of winter.

In his first two years on the job, Wally predicted more winter and has been right both times.

However, not to be outdone, WRAL Chief MeteorologistGreg Fisheldecided to put his weather expertise to the test.

Greg went out on Thursday and saw his shadow.

What does it mean? Who knows? There is no legend to live by. Greg Fishel that is, who, by the way, is NOT portly. Greg went out today and saw his shadow!! So what does that really mean? We're not sure. There is no legend to live by. -->-->
