North Carolina, Raleigh and the developer will split the cost of a new road system at the mall. Many people dread the new dose of traffic expected to arrive with the new stores, but the chiropractor whose business is next door to the site is not one of them.
"( Interstate) 540's going to make it a lot easier to come in here, and the mall is just one more thing that's going to attract people over to this part of town," says Dr. Alicia Nossov. "They're going to take more advantage of the offices and the businesses over here."
Along with the Outer Loop, a series of new, realigned, and expanded roads will feed Triangle Town Center.
Sumner Boulevard is a prime example. It is a lightly used access road to an electric co-op that is being transformed into a major access point to the mall, with two main entrances.
Old Wake Forest Road will be realigned, and a new road -- Triangle Town Boulevard -- will connect to 540.
Ed Urdaneta and his family are the new mall's closest residential neighbors.
He likes the shopping and the employment possibilities, but does have concerns.
"I think they would have to get the road a little bigger probably, add a couple of lanes, and we might even end up being like a Crabtree out here, and that's a pretty bad traffic situation as it is," Urdaneta says.
Dillard's, Sears, Belk and Hecht's are coming to Triangle Town Center. Negotiations are under way with a fifth anchor tenant.
The developer also submitted plans Wednesday for a restaurant village next to the new mall.
