Authorities Find Body Believed To Be Escaped Convict

NORTHAMPTON COUNTY — It looks like a bid for freedom has cost a convicted killer his life.
Gustavo Giraldo escaped from the Odom Correctional Institution last month by climbing over two barbed wire-topped fences.
Authorities recovered a body from the Roanoke River Friday about one mile from where officers found tracks leading into the water.
The body will be transported to the state Medical Examiner's office in Chapel Hill to be identified.
A jury convicted Giraldo 18 months ago of killing his girlfriend's husband when she tried to break off the affair. -->
