Torch Run Starts State Special Olympics Summer Games

RALEIGH — The excitement of the Special Olympics is returning to the Triangle this weekend when the state Summer Games will be held in Raleigh.

The traditionalTorch Runis making its way through the Triangle Thursday, in preparation for the events.

The torch is being carried by law enforcement officers across the state in a 2,200 mile relay.

Opening Ceremoniesare Friday night at N.C. State's Derr Track.
