JOHNSTON COUNTY, N.C. — Authorities said that a hidden camera was found in the women's shower area at a Catholic retreat center in Johnston County.
The Johnston County Sheriff's Department said the camera was found Friday afternoon at the Short Journey Retreat Center near Smithfield.
Sheriff Steve Bizzell said investigators know who planted the camera, but that they could not charge him with a crime because he never recorded any video.
Investigators said no recordings were found with the camera.
Authorities don't think the camera had been there long. They think the suspect intended to record women in the shower and sell the tapes.
