RALEIGH, N.C. — A state trooper charged with tax evasion has stepped down from his position.
The Highway Patrol said Deon Blackmon, a 12-year veteran with the agency, resigned Monday.
Blackmon is charged with five counts of state income tax evasion. He is free on $50,000 bond.
