RALEIGH, N.C. — Several flights departing from Raleigh-Durham International Airport have been canceled or delayed as a result of winter weather along the East Coast and northeastern part of the United States.

Heavy snow in the Northeast shut down airports in Washington D.C. and New York over the weekend, snarling airline traffic around the country.
The travel mess actually worked in one family's favor. On his way home from the Olympics, Robert Perry managed to bypass New York City and get home early, even if his luggage did not.
"They're going to have to wait awhile for their souvenirs," he said.
Travelers are urged to contact their airlines to check on the status of their flights.
