U.S. Marshals, Wake Authorities Arrest Texas Fugitive

RALEIGH, N.C. — A man investigators say is a high-ranking member of the Mexican Mafia has been arrested in Raleigh.

The U.S. Marshals' office and Wake County sheriff's deputies arrested Gary Alvarez.

Alvarez was wanted in Houston on charges of aggravated robbery drug possession, theft and aggravated assault.

Alvarez was on Texas' 10-most wanted fugitive list. On Thursday, authorities got a tip that he was living in Raleigh. He was arrested later that night.

Alvarez is being held on $100,000 bond and is awaiting extradition back to Houston.
