DURHAM, N.C. — Durham police Wednesday arrested a suspect in connection with an officer dragged by a sport utility vehicle.
Authorities said Joseph Rashaun Ledbetter, 26, of 800 S. Roxboro St., was pulled over by Officer C.M. Callemyn during a traffic stop at around midnight Monday.
Callemyn was dragged for more than two blocks after Ledbetter drove off, after being asked to step out of the vehicle.
Ledbetter was arrested Wednesday afternoon by members of the Durham Police Department's Gang Unit and was charged with assault on a government official, felony fleeing to elude a law enforcement officer and resisting, delaying and obstructing an officer.
Callemyn was treated for cuts and bruises and later released from a local hospital.
