CONCORDE — Ten cases of whooping cough have health officials in Cabarrus County concerned.
At least 100 other people have been in contact with those who have the highly contagious disease, which is also known as pertussis. The disease causes runny nose, watery eyes and severe coughing.
Infants are at particular risk because they can choke from coughing fits.
Earlier this year, there were 10 cases reported in Wake County
