Police Release Identity of Body Found Under Bridge

RALEIGH — July 9, 1996, 4:13 p.m. EDT

Police have released the identity of the woman whose body was found Sunday afternoon under the Morgan Street bridge in downtown Raleigh.

Earlier today, they revealed that the woman was murdered. Police have identified her as 30-year-old Dawn Marie Grandy.

Police say this is the fourth unsolved homicide this year in which transient black women were killed and their bodies dumped in the woods. They insist, however, that the cases are unrelated
