"Well, you have an ordinary inking pen with a radio-frequency signal that sends the signal of your motion and captures it in a grid underneath the note pad," says Hayden James, the CEO ofMi-Coin Research Triangle Park.
After connecting a Palm-OS device to Mi-Co's Mi-Notepad, you can begin writing. Whatever is written on the pad will appear on the PDA's screen. The notepad compresses the signal and delivers it quickly. It even works with pre-printed forms.
With wireless capability, Mi-Co sees lots of uses for their digital pen.
"Medical applications, insurance applications and other applications where people are trying to capture information and get it into devices," James says.
Mi-Co's wireless notepad and digital pen are ideal accessories for PDAs and other mobile devices. They are perfect for taking notes and sending messages without a keyboard.
Mi-Co plans to begin selling its digital pen and notepad by Christmas. The company is developing applications for other handheld operating systems.
