Teens Asked For Cigarettes, Took Car Instead

Posted Updated

DURHAM — June 6, 1996 - 11:30 a.m. EDT

A Durham woman says 13 young teen-agers waved guns in her face, then took off with her car.

Catherine Todd says she and a friend were sitting in her car on Mallard Street when the teens approached asking for cigarettes. When she refused them, two of the teens pulled out guns and demanded her car.

Todd and her passenger were not harmed, but the suspects have not been found.

Police were able to recover the vehicle
