On the hottest day so far this year, the pool at the Polo Run apartment complex was packed with children. One of them didn't make it out alive.

Seven-year-old Charikus Moore drowned Thursday night in the crowded pool where there were only three adults present. Police say the boy was dressed in street clothes and apparently fell into the water.

A young swimmer saw the boy's body at the bottom of the pool and brought it to the surface, yelling for help. One of the adults present helped retrieve the body.

Rescuers tried, but were unable to revive him.

The apartment complex is not required to provide a life-guard since the pool has no diving board.

The drowning is under investigation
