WILSON — May 8, 1996 - 11:15 a.m. EDT

Police have identified the body of a Wilson woman who apparently died in a fire Tuesday evening.

Firefighters had to force open the door at Mary Lois Ratliff's Garwin Street apartment just before 6 p.m. They found the 77-year-old woman's body in her living room. The fire, which investigators believe to have been accidental, was already out.

It is unsure whether Ratliff died before or during the fire. Her body was sent to Pitt Memorial for autopsy
