Burglars Strike Same House Four Times

FAYETTEVILLE — May 5, 1996 - 3:00 p.m. EDT

A Cumberland County couple is offering a $1000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the person who burglarized their home this past Monday.

The break-in was the fourth experienced by the Driggers household in the past five years, but this time the thieves left malice in the wake of the crime.

After gaining access by prying open a window, the thieves took a VCR, jewelry and guns from the Grays Creek home of Tom and Gloria Driggers. Then they fired off a few B-B rounds.

Gloria Driggers says the gun did some damage.

Moving to the front of the house, the thieves used a magic marker to deface a portrait of the Driggers' daughter Lisa who died ten years ago in a car accident.

Gloria Driggers says that was very painful.

More glass was shot out on the second floor of the house and a mattress was sliced open. On their way out, the burglars left a note that said "Next time set alarm".

Gloria Driggers says that was humiliating.

The Driggers have now installed a security alarm system in the house, bolted windows shut and ordered bars for their doors.

And that, according to Driggers, makes them feel like prisoners.

Anyone with information about the person or people who broke into the Driggers' home should call 919-483-TIPS.
