Two Johnston County teenagers have been charged with stabbing a third teen, whose was left for dead in a field and his car set on fire.

The attack occurred Saturday night, but deputies didn't find 16-year-old Robert Kennedy until Sunday evening. He was in a wooded area just outside Four Oaks. He had been stabbed repeatedly and had bruises and scrapes.

On Monday, detectives arrested David Allen Hardison, 16, and his brother James Michael Hardison, 17. They are charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill.

Kennedy is in serious condition at Duke University Medical Center.

Detectives say additional arrests are possible. At this point, they are not stating a motive for the crimes
