Posted Updated

CHAPEL HILL — April 20, 1996, 11:10 a.m. EDTWeather should be wonderful for Sunday's Apple Chill Street Fair. It will be staged on East Franklin Street from 1 - 6 p.m.

Thousands of craft, food and music lovers are expected to turn out. Attendance usually averages about 25,000. Anyone driving to the street fair would probably would find it easier to park at University Mall and use the shuttles that will operate to and from downtown.

There will be lots of activity along the street, including plenty of music -- blues, rock, rap and jazz. At 2 p.m. the Chapel Hill High School Orchestra will make a special appearance in front of the post office. Their show will celebrate their upcoming trip to Austria.

The Apple Chill Cloggers will perform about 5 p.m. at Morehead Planetarium on the UNC campus.

And the Square Heels, a square dance group, will take center stage to show off their do-si-do and allemand-left skills.

Also at the planetarium, kids will see a kite-flying demonstration, listen to stories, play games and ride on a train.

A free Kid Safe Fair and open house will be held at the NC Neurosciences Hospital, off Manning Drive, from 2 - 5 p.m. Free trolley transportation will be provided from downtown during the afternoon
