March 24, 1996, 7:04 p.m. A 19-month-old boy is in serious condition at Wake Medical Center, after a three-car accident on Poole Road just outside city limits. The accident occurred about 4:30 Sunday afternoon.

The Highway Patrol is investigating the crash site and said charges are pending against Tony Wood of Clayton.

The child, whose name is being withheld, was riding with his mother, Donna Rogers of Knightdale, in a car driven by her boyfriend. According to officers, their car was hit by Wood's pick-up truck, and a third car also got caught in the collision.

Only the child was taken to the hospital
