"She just has so much to give, and she shares it so freely," says Cary Assistant Principal Linda Aldridge. "She's just one of those extraordinary people who personifies excellence."
It cannot be easy to go from basketball practice to diving practice and then home to study to maintain an A average, but Goodman has her priorities in order.
"I'm the type of person that if I don't have anything to do, I don't know what to do with myself," Goodman said. "I think you have to be a disciplined person to succeed in life in general."
"There's no road block in her in life," teacher Andy Zappia said. "If there is a set back or if Jenny sees something that she should know but doesn't, then she finds a way to get it done."
"She's is always looking for the positive," says basketball coach Patrick Jones. "Someone who just steps up and goes to other people."
"She walks down the hall and greets everybody," Aldridge said. "From the children in special classes to the honor roll students to athletes, she relates well to everyone."
"I want people to see me as someone who works hard to get what needs to be accomplished, and not a person that has stuff given to them," Goodman said.
Jenny Goodman of Cary High School is this week's winner of the Extra Effort Award.
