RALEIGH — March 3, 1996, 4:25 p.m. EST Raleigh police say a drunk driver is responsible for a hit-and-run accident that led to a kidnapping.
Law officers say that early Sunday morning a van driven by 37-year-old Donald F. Foreman hit Anthony E. Stewart.
Foreman and the two passengers in his vehicle decided that Stewart had died from the impact.
The trio put Stewart in their van and drove him to a field on Rose Lane. That's where they dumped what they thought was a body.
Instead, Stewart was still alive. This morning, churchgoers came across him. He is now hospitalized in critical condition.
Police were able to make the arrests because a witness saw the accident and described the van involved.
The two passengers also charged with kidnapping are John Michael Wilson, 44, of Raleigh and Lauren M. Wilkerson, 23, from Washington, D.C
