Wake County prosecutors say they will seek the death penalty for Bill Boychuk, charged with the New Year's Eve death of his pregnant wife.

Prosecutors will announce their intent to seek the death penalty during a hearing today in Wake Superior Court.

Boychuk is being held in jail without bond after being charged with first-degree murder. He is accused of killing his wife, Karen. Her body was found on a greenway, more than 40 feet below the Cary Parkway.

Bill Boychuk told police that his wife died when she fell from the parkway after being struck by a car.

But prosecutors say an autopsy shows that Karen Boychuk died from several blows to the back of the head -- blows not consistent with injuries sustained in a fall
