Nags Head Golf Links

Posted Updated

NAGS HEAD — Raleigh's Judd and Andy Ammons bought this beautiful property between the Roanoke Sound and Atlantic Ocean. Then Bob Moore stepped in to design the Nags Head Golf Links.

The course has a Scottish, links feel to it.

"These holes that run along the sound, as far as I'm concerned, are probably the prettiest holes on the Outer Banks and this 18th hole is probably one of the most difficult par 5's that I've ever played --especially on a day like today when it's blowing about 25 in our face."

That wind makes this 583 yard, par 5 play much longer. A small, fairway bottleneck challenges your accuracy on the second shot

Even after 2 big bops, Pro Danny Agapion is still 172 yards from the green

I choose to lay up in front of the bottleneck, but I wind up in the stuff.

There are no out of bounds on this course, if you can find it, hit it! But after 9 wiffs and whacks, it is time to move on

Danny puts this one to rest with a par and we certainly proved today that shot placement is crucial on this hole and this course.

Golf Digest calls the Nags Head Golf Links the longest 6,100 yard course you'll ever play. Amen to that. Reporter:Jeff Gravley
