DURHAM — February 16, 1996 - 12:33 p.m. EST
Durham's mayor will talk to the press this afternoon to discuss a gathering storm over that city's police department.
The most recent development involves Officer Harvey's placement on administrative leave, following his arrest of Hillside High School Coach James Lillie on drug charges.
Lillie is the nephew of Durham's police chief, Jackie McNeill.
Now, six weeks after that arrest, McLain faces possible dismissal for allegedly being untruthful about a fender-bender in the police department parking lot.
The district attorney's office is concerned about how this will impact the case against Lillie.
A lawsuit has been filed against Chief McNeill, charging him with sexual harassment and protecting friends in the police department
