ELM CITY — February 2, 1996 - 2:30 p.m. EST
A tanker carrying 1,800 gallons of liquid petroleum overturned in Wilson County this morning.
Firefighters evacuated homes in the immediate area as they prepared to right the truck using air bags.
Police and fire officials blocked the road at the accident site, although no gas was leaking from the truck.
The Amerigas tanker was traveling down Haines Road, just outside of Elm City when the accident occurred.
The driver was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital. He sustaine
