Lochmere Golf Club

CARY — This week, WRAL's Jeff Gravley did not even have to leave Wake County to find another greatDream 18hole.

He headed to the par 5, ninth hole at Lochmere Golf Club. From the tips it is 558 yards, and you had better muscle up and stay right for any chance of going for the green in 2.

"We need to get it out there about 300 yards," said course pro Tim Reeser. "I would say it's about a 5 percent chance to go for the green in 2, and that's for a low handicapper."

Jeff gets a little distance, but in the wrong direction. He found the ball, but it was in the wrong fairway.

Jeff played out of the first fairway and just cleared the trees. Tim Reeser hit a big drive, but not big enough to shoot for the green.

Three shots later, Reeser was in the cup for par.

The smart shot for Jeff would be to use a 7-iron to get it about 100 yards away from the hole. However, he tried to hit it through the woods, carom off the tree, hit the sand trap and roll it in there for a birdie opportunity.

Jeff nailed a chip shot for birdie, and put a four on the scorecard.
