FAYETTEVILLE — There were no crocodile tears, but plenty of rain at Riddle Stadium in Fayetteville. TheCape Fear Crocswere scheduled to play their final game Thursday, but it turned out to be a washout.

Three days of rain and a wet field put a final curtain for the baseball team. For the devoted fans who came out to see the final game, it is a disappointing way to say goodbye.

"We came to see them play and to bid them farewell, and this is not the way to do it," says Crocs fan Joe Shepherd.

Andrea Rachunek was at the stadium when the Crocs threw their first pitch. She says she will miss the game as well as the memories.

"I met my husband out here three years ago, so just being out here with the field being wet, it hurts," she says.

Next year, the Crocs will be the Lakewood BlueClaws at their new home in Lakewood, New Jersey.
