Rosewood High Senior Ranks First On and Off the Field

He runs from scrimmage, he returns kicks, he intercepts passes. He is a coach's dream come true on and off the field.

"He's very self-motivated. He knows what he wants. He knows what's right and wrong," says coach Daniel Barrow. "He just works hard to be a good person and achieve the goals that he wants to achieve."

And Williams has achieved a lot, with much more in store.

He is a three-sport star who ranks number one in his class academically.

"I tell myself, even before I started playing sports in junior high, I knew I had to do good academically in order to go on to college. And that's my dream," he says. "It just stuck with me. And then I found an athletic phase, and I happened to be good at that too, so I guess everything just worked out for me."

"He's a wonderful person. He's sensitive, he's smart, he's got a sense of humor," says teacher Sally Pope. "He's just a joy to be with and to teach because he wants to know, and he wants to do well."

His teammates agree. "He's just the greatest person in the world to be around," says quarterback Josh Smith. "A lot of us feed off him because he's an excellent role model. He's good in the classroom, good on the football field."

"He feels like because the good Lord gave him some athletic ability that people are counting on him, and he doesn't want to let anyone down," his coach says.
