The Long-Driving Smile Vs. The Quiet, No.1 Putt

Neither player has won aU.S. Open, but either could this week.

One is flamboyant with an all-American smile, the other is quiet and reserved. One leads the tour in total driving, the other is the tour's best putter.

Woods and Duval are bipolar, but right now, opposites attract. The pair are ranked 1 and 2 in the world rankings, and everywhere they go, the masses follow.

"Your time demands are that much greater," Duval said about being first in money earnings. "Just the simple things about moving around the golf course get harder with crowds and galleries, autographs, and getting bumped around."

"It's not as bad as it was in '97, thank God," Woods said. "Back then it was very dangerous. I got cut in the eye. I was bleeding a few times, and it's just not fun."

Woods has one Major already and he is poised for another after winning the last two tournaments he has played in.

"I am feeling very confident," he said. "Winning two times in a row is always good, and coming to a Major as your third one makes you feel even more confident."

Despite being the best player on the planet, Duval is still looking for his first Major.

"It's something that I would really like to do," he said, "and something that I would like to put on my resume at some point here; hopefully in the near future, if that's not five days, then maybe it's a year and five days."

Everyone will just have to wait and see if Woods and Duval will play in the final group Sunday.
