Heaps Leads Blue Devils With Heart and Hustle

Heaps always seems to be in the middle of things, and it seems like he has been there for years.

"People say to me all the time, 'I can't believe you're still here,'" Heaps said. "I've been around a lot. It's nice now to be on the soccer field as a senior and a leader, and know that this is the last one and you can put everything thing into it."

Heaps will leave Duke as the school's second leading all-time scorer. He hopes heart and hustle is enough to get a look at the next level.

"I hope to play professionally for a little bit," Heaps said. "Right now it is a matter of finding out what's best. I finish up in December with all my courses. The most important things is education, and then after that we will see what happens."

Duke was not invited to the NCAA tournament last year. It is a slight that drives Heaps this season, and it is making him even more feisty than normal.
