ZEBULON — One day after the Carolina Mudcats lost their Major League affiliation, they lost part of their stadium.

The Grandstand came down Wednesday at Five County Stadium. It is all part of a $15 million renovation project to add seven thousand seats.

The club says the stadium work will help it find a new Major League team.

"What the Pirate's loss was [the teams] gain, and they wanted to talk to us," Mudcats General Manager Joe Kremer said. "It was very good that we had this in the works at this time, because a lot of people wanted to be here."

The Mudcats say they could have an announcement about a new parent club by the end of the week.
