DURHAM, N.C. — Durham's grand old theater is marking a major milestone, as the Carolina Theater turns 80 on Thursday.
Celebrations started Thursday morning with elementary students getting a history lesson about the theater.
It was Durham's first fireproof building. Hollywood legend Katherine Hepburn once performed there in "the Philadelphia Story."
