DURHAM, N.C. — Investigators in Durham are working to figure out what sparked a fire that damaged two homes.
Fire crews responded overnight to reports of a house fire near the intersection of Roxboro and Seeman Streets. As firefighters were handling that blaze, the fire spread from a tree limb to another abandoned house.
Officials said both of the houses were vacant. Fire crews said the fire brought down a power line, knocking out electricity to five homes in the area. Power has since been restored to those homes.
Neighbors were evacuated as a safety precaution. No one was injured.
Fire officials said one of the houses was so damaged that it may collapse. There is no word on what caused the fire.
