Harnett County Officials Want To Tag Dangerous Dogs

Posted Updated

HARNETT COUNTY, N.C. — Harnett County leaders could tighten the leash on dangerous dogs. They're considering changes to the county's animal control ordinance.

Animal Control officials suggest permanently tagging dogs considered dangerous, either through microchip implants or tattoos. Owners would also be required to have the animal sterilized. In addition, the dog would have to be kept in an enclosed pen with public warning signs.
