Posted Updated

RALEIGH — The Opening Ceremonies of the 1999 Special Olympics World Summer Games is not the only place you will see great entertainment. You will also have a chance to take in music and more at the World Games Festival.

Flooring is being laid, tents are going up, and in just over a week, theMeredith Collegecampus will become the World Games Festival, a place to go for fun after the competition.

"We've got three stages of nonstop entertainment with our headliners every evening on the main stage in the concert bowl," said Keith McClinsey, World Games Festival organizer.

In addition to entertainment, there will be a lot of other things to see and do at the Festival.

You'll have a chance to sample international foods and also to go through a sponsor village which will have all kinds of activities and demonstrations for you to experience.

Best of all, you'll have an opportunity to meet some of the athletes who are competing in the World Games.

Two more festival entertainers are expected to be announced later this week. The World Games Festival runs June 27 through July 3 from 2-8 p.m.
