Vandals Shoot out 40 Cars' Windows

Posted May 27, 2007

— Vandals hit two Fayetteville neighborhoods overnight, shooting out the windows of at least 40 cars.

Police say it happened in the newly annexed section of town off Cliffdale and Rim Roads.

All the damage was done with a BB gun, but nothing was taken from the cars, according to investigators.

Anyone with information leading to an arrest is asked to call police.

anitov - I alos wanted to add that I was a 911 dispatcher for 8 years before I joined the service, so I do know how busy one may be. What I don't appreciate is the police officer telling me that someone throw something out the window or shot out a window because it's memorial day weekend and kids will be kids.

anitov - When I call 3 times a night, it is not for the same call. They are seperate occasions. Most police officers that come out to the house tell us to keep caling. They say it is the only way to get speed bumbs. They say that there has to be some may calls to a specific area before we can have a petition to have speed bumps installed. So to that, I have been directed by the police to call. On the other incident, if it had been a drive-by shooting that just happened and the perp drove away when I called and the police didn't show up, do I have the right to call back after 25 minutes??? I never asked to be annex by a city that doesn't possess the means to protect it's citizens. The city of Fayetteville decided to increase it's population and coverage area without the support of enough local police. I would say that it is not my problem, but now it is. I can't even get routine patrols through my neighborhood!!! The criminals know this.

I'm just saying that when you call 911 there is no need to call back to rush them. Calling again and again is the equivilent of pressing the elevator button over and over to make it come to you faster. If you want to annoy a dispatcher keep calling in the same call over and over. You said you call 3 times a night, that would be 21 times a week. No wonder the response time is so slow if others are also calling the PD 3 times a night when a speeder goes by. 911 is for emergencies. If you have an emergency please call 911, but not for speeders and trying to hurry them up. FPD responds to over 200,000+ calls a year, every so often they might be busy when you call so be patient.

This is the perfect case for caning in public square or circle if you don't have a square. If you have neither then maybe you should move.

As hoods keep shooting out car windows, remember the citizens and police dont like your actions, and vengeance is the lords.

They are not in the middle of the street, they are in the yard of the house they are building. The guy who was driving was driving so fast that he lost control of his car, slammed into the port-o-john, put his car on 2 wheels and landed in the neighbors drive way. He was about to leave the scene until he realized that his back tire was blown out, he only made it about 20 feet or so.

Why are there Port O Johns in the middle of your street?

How is that crying wolf, by the way. The boy that cried wolf made up stories, I am not crying wolf or making up stories. There has already been one accident in my front yard involving someone speeding. This person was driving excessivly hit a port-a-john and sent it into my front yard where thankfully my children weren't home playing.

anitov - Based on your standards, I guess I should not call the police at all after the crime has happened. I called twice in 25 minutes in hopes of the police arriving quickly to find the car before they left. If they would have came quickly and would have caught the car, the 40 cars with their windows shot out would not have happened. The article makes you believe that no one was arrested, well, I drove to the top of the street when the cars windows were shot out, guess what, it was the car I called the police about the night before, and they arrested 4 individuals. They are also looking for a second car.

You call the police 3 times a night because someone is goes 20 over the speed limit? And you called 911 twice in 25 minutes (for something that had already occurred and was not in progress)??? Have you ever heard the story about a boy who cried wolf?
