The Raleigh-Durham area is near the top of another list for best places.

This time, it’s the vacation destination list.

Hotwire.com has ranked Raleigh-Durham as number three on their list of places to get more vacation for your money.

Atlanta topped the list with Dallas right behind in the number two slot. Coming in fourth and fifth places were Orlando and Kansas City.

This is the second year the Raleigh-Durham area has ranked on the list.

Thrifty travelers visit this popular college-town area because it’s easily accessible from most major cities along the East Coast.

Some places you can visit for free around here are:
- The Museum of Natural Sciences or the North Carolina Museum of History
- The Harley-Davidson Drag Racing Museum, the only one of its kind.
- Plus all the parks and lakes in the area.

Vacation spot? There is absolutely nothing going on here this Memorial weekend that's fun! I try to get out of the area as much as possible.

Maybe we need to start a forum of brown recluse spider attacks or something equally scary. Bat bites? Rabid raccoons? Snakes in the sewers? Do the tourists understand that Central Prison is in the heart of Raleigh? Deranged escapee has residents hysterical with fear!! Oh, I know, from the other forum about New Jersey beaches — Camel rides banned in Raleigh –tune in to news at 11…

Not another list. The last thing we need is people visiting and deciding to stay. It is not that unbelievable to think that the area ranks high as a tourist attraction. Busloads continue to visit Atlantic City, New Jersey, and it is a big dump. Even if you gamble, there is absolutely nothing to do outside of the casinos. It is like vacationing in squalor.

Durham is to Raleigh as Harlem is to Manhattan. Durham would be the slum area to the west

who's paying hotwire for that little bit of mis-information to be released to the masses. Why in the world would anybody vacation in Raleigh, nc. It's all I can do to get out of here, even for a day. Raleigh is a great place to do nothing.
