RALEIGH, N.C. — Summer is almost here. While the weather is nice, there will be lots to do in downtown Raleigh.
Starting Friday, the third annual Raleigh Downtown Criterium will careen through the city streets. Cyclists are expected to do laps at speeds of more than 40 miles per hour. The same event kicked off Memorial Day weekend last year.

Last July, thousands came to the newly-opened Fayetteville Street for "Raleigh Wide Open." The event will make its comeback July 21 as part of Raleigh Wide Open 2."

The event will feature plenty of fun and entertainment, but Fayetteville Street will not be the only focus for fun downtown.

Moore Square will take center stage with free rock concerts every other weekend starting June 2. The Downtown Live Series will alternate with Saturday movies in Moore Square. The events will be free of charge.
