SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. — A man is behind bars in connection with a slaying in Southern Pines.
Officers responded to calls of a shooting on North Ashe Street. When they arrived, they found 35-year-old LuQuam Rakmieh Jones dead with a gunshot wound.
Detectives later arrested 24-year-old Jarvis Raynor Ferguson and charged him with first-degree murder.
Officers have not released a motive. Ferguson is in jail without bond pending a Feb. 9 court date.
