Fayetteville City Council Puts Board of Adjustments Out of Business

FAYETTEVILLE — After 30 years, the city of Fayetteville will be operating without its Board of Adjustments.

The board had the power to grant exceptions to city ordinances but had been criticized for being too lenient in downtown zoning cases.

City records show 85 percent of variances applied for in the last three years have been approved.

City council members voted to abolish the Board of Adjustments and give those responsibilities to the Zoning Board instead
