ZEBULON — At least one person is dead and three others have been injured in an accident on Highway 64 in Zebulon.
Jessica Barnett, 18, of Banner Elk was driving westbound on Highway 64 just over a mile west of Zebulon when she apparently lost control of the car and went off the road.
She later overcorrected and went back on the road, hitting a guardrail and overturning several times.
A passenger in the back seat, Erin Mathiau, 16, of Wardsboro, Vermont, was thrown from the vehicle and died.
Barrett was charged with misdemeanor death by vehicle. Barnett and two other passengers, including the victim's brother were injured.
